Compliance with ASTM D5762 for Total Nitrogen in Lubricating Oils

A challenge for many labs today is adhering to the ASTM D5762 Calibration and Standardization section of the standard (see Reference 1 below). Unfortunately, there are not many references or Application Notes that follow this method requirement. This Application Note will demonstrate compliance using the NEXIS Total Nitrogen analyzer.

ASTM D5762 is an established method for the determination of nitrogen in lubricating oils by oxidative boat inlet chemiluminescence technique. The application is of significant importance because nitrogen components can contaminate refinery catalysts. The determination of nitrogen concentration in lubricant oils is a measure of the Total Nitrogen in various additives. This application notes describes the principle of operation and obtained analysis results using the NEXIS TN analyzer model, which benefits labs with ease-of-use, precise Total Nitrogen data and fast analysis times.

Our Impact

TSHR has been helping labs achieve their elemental analysis goals with dedicated solutions. Our vision is to develop innovative reliable combustion analyzers that enable customers to make their work productive and more easier.

To help labs excel we offer Application Notes across the Combustion Analyzer product line. They are a resource that explains the technology, performance, and abilities of our products as used against certain methodologies and or applications.

Whether your needs center around an ASTM Standard or EN/ISO methods, or a sample matrix-based outcome TSHR has you covered. If you don’t see the technical direction you need, simply contact us. We also offer sample analysis in our onsite Applications Lab.
